EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE
Where would Mary Poppins be without her umbrella as a unique means of transportation? For that matter, the umbrella has proven a painter’s muse for centuries, not to mention a weapon adopted by the fair sex to defend themselves from ruffians and hooligans. Whether a sunshade or a parapluie, a royal accessory or a religious symbol, the umbrella has enjoyed a long and distinguished history. Elmwood Theatre’s 19-member female-ensemble reimagines the many uses of the umbrella by bringing to the stage a romping and colourful work—one that embraces ‘collaborative play’ through movement, song and text.
BROLLIES & BUMBERSHOOTS TRAILER
"Winds in the east, theres a mist comin' in
Like somethin' is brewin' and 'bout to begin.
Can't put me finger on what lies in store,
But I feel what's to happen all happened before."
